Small Cap / Mid Cap / Large Cap

Labels for company size based on market cap.

Large caps (roughly $10B and up) are big, established, and usually steadier. Mid caps ($2B to $10B) sit in between. Small caps (under ~$2B) and micro caps (under ~$300M) are smaller, less liquid, and far more volatile. Bigger moves and fatter option premium live in the small end, and so does bigger risk.

For example

A $500 billion tech giant is a large cap. A $175 million space company is a micro cap that can swing double digits in a day.
