Ticker Symbol

Also called: ticker, cashtag

The short code used to identify a stock.

A ticker is a stock’s nickname on the exchange, usually one to five letters. You use it to look up a price, place a trade, or tag a stock in a post (a "cashtag" is the ticker with a dollar sign in front).

For example

Ford trades under the ticker F, AT&T under T, and Pfizer under PFE.
